Compass Co-Working Centre

Compass is a collaborative and flexible co-working centre located in Ras Al Khaimah. Their brief expressed a desire to create a welcoming and eclectic atmosphere that resonates with its young professional occupants.

Functionally, the space values flexibility to enable a broad spectrum of varying working scenarios for individual entrepreneurs, growing small businesses, and fully enabled workforces. Modularity was crucial for smooth transitions of spaces for events and discussions when necessary.

The ancient mountain villages of RAK drove our inspiration for the design concept. Enabling users to work anywhere, the design honors the flexibility of a prehistoric time. Inspired by the notion of a semi-nomadic lifestyle, our design reflects a constructed community abundant with centrally positioned amenities placed around a “well” – the life source of any ancient village. It places the focus on its users’ wellbeing and enable a space for them to connect, network, and grow.

The interior design brings this story to life through an energetic material palette inspired by the key aspects of RAK heritage – the industry, the mountains, and the sea. Earthy textures pay homage to the landscape and pairs with complementary industrial details, creating a stimulating and spirited workplace.
