Global Eagle

Global Eagle, one of the leading providers of entertainment and connectivity solutions give people the power to bring the world with them wherever they go; connecting millions to Wi-Fi and content anywhere, and anytime. As a top in-flight and maritime entertainment provider, among other services, they focus on granting richly connected experiences to their clients through the concept and philosophy of seamless connectivity.

At the time, Global Eagle’s offices were separated into two different locations. In their effort to streamline and further strengthen their operations, they came to us with a brief to fuse their various business units into one integrated office. The intent was to harmonize their two teams, and inevitably one of the main requirements of the project was to ensure open communication flowed in an organic manner. The new office was also to include ample space for strategic thinking and creativity as they continue down the path of their vision: connecting users to the present world and to tomorrow.

With a client fixated on such worldly forward-thinking motives and connecting millions within a single community or industry, we wanted to deliver a grand new space able to propel Global Eagle into the future. Our concept was largely based on playing with the idea of connectivity; considering how people connect to content and relativity while bringing that conjunction together around the space in diverse cohesive ways.

In building the “bridge” uniting the teams, the design showcased dynamic ways of incorporating progressive features and aesthetics inspired by the Global Eagle identity. As you walk through the doors, the reception instantly takes you around the world with a striking feature wall displaying the entire globe, representing limitless connection. Off to the side, the next visible wall is meticulously designed and placed to resemble the world map, paired with an inspiring play on the Global Eagle slogan: Bring the World to You. This playful concept is applied throughout the space and such words can be spotted in designated meeting rooms and collaborative areas around the office.

Taking inspiration from airport terminals and airlines which make up the bulk of Global Eagle’s clients, the hallway to the open office workspace intended to portray an airport runway with a brightly lit ‘Arrival’ sign along the column acting as a wayfinding element. The meeting rooms were cleverly named after prominent airports such as the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which created a fun way for booking meeting rooms, mimicking the process of booking a flight.

The brand’s primary color, blue, was generously utilized on certain walls and along the carpet flooring. Every single detail of the space was thoughtfully designed and incorporated subtle attributes to symbolize connection. For example, the flooring is connected and joint together in a clean but scattered way with the concrete floor tiles overlapping the carpet flooring. This represented the multiple different teams and their connection to each other. As a general rule, the schematic concept promoted an open circulation for the office amongst closed spaces encourage teamwork within.
